Have you ever tried walking around with a blindfold covering your eyes? People tend to vote that way most of the time.
It has always been a practice of people organizing their respective communities and also of governments (local, state, national) trying to manipulate public opinion in order to win votes.
With the advent of technology, people have been able to get things faster, better, and sometimes cheaper, depending on what they are buying. In spite of this, you don't always want to buy something "cheaper," because that may mean you get what you pay for. In essence, that is what we are suffering in this global chaos right now, and I am not just referring to El Paso, this is happening all over the world. In exchange for purchasing different content to feed their brains, people have stopped looking at the candidates and looking at what their party stands for, removing politics from the sphere of everyday life as much as possible, in order to play politics in a different and disturbing manner.
Society once worried about matters vital to the survival of the state, namely local, state, national, and international matters. Not anymore, politics has changed into something very different not too long ago. These days, politics is very personal, such as your sexual preferences and whether or not you should get vaccinated.
However, if you were to purchase a new television, most people would do research that involves looking at a variety of places, both physically and online, reading reviews of other people to see what others think about their purchases, and sometimes, some people even go as far as looking at replacement parts to find out what it would cost to repair something before they buy it. After doing your research, you feel exhausted, yet still have to buy it. Choosing the right product can be tedious and exhausting, but if you take your time, you'll find it.
During the early years of politics, people used to do that. Of course, they didn't have the technology they do today. Most people today use their time to be on social media, watch their favorite shows on Netflix, or research what's going on in the celebrity world. Humanity has forgotten about what really matters, politics. It is important for us as a society to remember that politics affects our daily lives, the amount of taxes we pay, and the way that our community's taxes are spent, etc.
Rather than focusing on real politics, people are now more likely to vote based on how charming a candidate is, who is married to them, how funny their speech is, and who has the most attractive pet. In today's politics, media and celebrities often play key roles, and agendas are often pushed by celebrities.
Consider what would happen if we all applied the same energy to politics as we would to purchasing a new product. By researching vigorously what each candidate is really going to do or what each party really stands for. Due to lack of knowledge or simply a lack of concern, most people do not know how to vote properly. Blind votes are making an enormous difference, and it's impossible to just keep going like this.
There's more to it than that, in my view; the second part is that not enough people are actually voting and that's a serious problem. The voice of the people is lost when they do not vote. As a result, they lose their ability to properly elect our administrations, and therefore, they allow others to do so. It is also important not to forget that the absence of votes can lead to the manipulation of the actual votes. And that's been seen in a lot of places around the world recently. A closer look at the numbers reveals that deceased people continue to vote, people that have never gone to the voting location or never mailed their ballots, or people who have moved to another state or city but still vote at their old address. Numbers never lie.
Another problem is the way our younger generations are treated since they were children. Traditionally, they pushed their disproportionate ideas primarily to universities, which was a big problem, because they taught our kids the basis for communism and socialist movements, trying to get them to oppose the establishment, without realizing that they are just tools for the current left organizations, which also happen to be the establishment of today. Their only knowledge of politics is that they wear a color or flag. With that, they vote, but they don't understand why they are voting or what they are supporting. If people really knew, I'm sure they would be disappointed. Maybe some at least. But that problem was recently applied to our early education systems too.
The same ideals were practiced by some teachers who went into their classrooms and told the students that that person was racist or crazy, attempting to manipulate the minds of the students to their advantage. The inexperience and ease of impressing kids make them easy targets for manipulation. The truth is, you'd be surprised at what your kids will tell you about what they learn in class everyday if you asked them. They discuss political topics in a direct and indirect way. I remember three years ago when my daughters started talking to me about Trump and Biden because they heard a lot of negative things about the Republican party in their school, not from other students but from teachers. As my 11-year-old daughter told me one day, "My social studies teacher told us we need to watch 15 minutes of CNN every day if we want to know what's going on around us," they took it to another level this year. Aside from suggesting what is arguably the most biased network on television right now, I was disgusted by the teacher's decision to take a 15-minute break, rather than delivering social studies lessons to the 6th graders. Although I don't know how long she has been a teacher, imagine what she has taught and what time she has wasted in class. They go on to high school and college and preach Karl Max, critical race theory, among many more things. We have to stop that so that teachers don't influence political ideologies and dedicate themselves and actually dedicate to teaching the proper curriculum to our kids. Nowadays by the time they graduate from college, they have seen and heard many epithets for almost 20 years. That's a long time for someone to influence their minds in any way without the parents' knowledge or permission. We send our kids to school thinking that all they do is go to class and have subject related conversations but the reality is somewhat different. Teach your kids at home, if you don't teach your kids what politics is, someone else will teach them everything that politics isn't.
The ancient Greek used to like to get people involved in their government activities in several ways. They are actually the ones that used the word "idiot" for the first time. The word is a derivative of the ancient Greek word "idios", which essentially meant “on one’s own” or “private”. Words like idiomatic (language unique to a place or group of people) and idiosyncrasy (habits unique to individuals) derive from that same root, as does the ancient Greek word idiotes, which means "private citizen".
But in their culture, there was more to the word "idiotes" than just someone who kept to themselves.
The term "idiote" refers to someone with little to no connection to public affairs and government business. Consequently, an "idiote" was a layperson, rather than soldiers, scribes, judges, officials or politicians, whose jobs directly affected the city's operation.
Eventually, "idiotes" began to be used not merely to describe individuals outside of daily life in the city, but also to refer to those considered uncultured or undereducated to be knowledgeable about or interested in public affairs. This was the point at which "idiots" became what we know them as today.
Due to our inability to educate ourselves, we have all been idiotized on so many levels. For the benefit of our community, let's continue learning what's really happening around us every day. We also need to start working on educating our younger generations so they don't have to accept something other than reality. I hope we all do something about it.
One last thing I always say, I don't mean it for everything but, just because its new doesn't mean it's better.
